REPLACING ZIPS ON POP VINYL SIDES ?????

Hi all Wondering if anyone has had zips replaced on pop top vinyl skirt/walls.  We realised all too late that we had dropped the roof onto the actual metal zip tab and in our extreme heat up here by the time we popped the roof it is stuffed. We have tried lots incl. silicone spray, candle wax, windex, etc.   Cheers Kim

Hello gandk,

When you find the solution, can you tell me?
I would assume that the skirt would have to be removed & whether it is cheaper to buy a new one or get it repaired, would be p to you & quotes from dealers/upholstery people.
The bags that held my weather covers on our Eagle fell apart, but it was cheaper to throw them away ($400 for two) & to fit new Chinese made bags!

When we bought the Discovery 2nd hand one zipper was jammed - I freed half of it with the aid of silicon & a flat bladed screwdriver. The other zip is stuck forever, I think. The flyscreens can be replaced from the outside - they are held on with velcro.

Also check out "Saddlers" in country areas, I guess they don't get too much saddle and bridle work and they are looking for extra work from the general public - we found a great one in Dubbo that did our annex and awnings - also repairs to our camper trailer.
