What Dual Zone fridge /freezer

Hi all Doing Gibb River Road in 2019 Any comments on What Brand of Dual Zone Fridge Freezer works for you. Always had Waeco and have been happy with CFX 40 but upgrading so to utilise more space and not have to use ice n esky..Engel dearer but lots of cheaper brands ie ARB.m.IRONMAN...EVERCOOL Any thoughts please? Price not the issue

I have owned their 60lt dual zone for three years and bounced it around much of the Victorian High Country in the back of my 4WD, it has performed well and is reasonable on power consumption.

I have an Engel MT45F G4C P and it's far from ideal. Has just the one lid It works best as 1/3 freezer, 2/3 fridge. A thermal board is used to seperate sections. The other combinations, all fridge, all freezer and 1/3 fridge 2/3 freezer are lacking is that you can get soft frozen goods in the full freezer, frozen cans up one end and just chilled at other end when full fridge. Takes a bit of mucking around. I'd probably get a dual lid fridge freezer next time of have two seperate fridge freezers next time.

Looking at power usage, the Engel is much more efficient than the Waeco (Have a small Waeco that can run basically ay any temperature.

However all portable fridges only cool so far below ambient temperature. 40+ degrees up in North West Australia you may only get 15 degrees which is really warm beer.

    My Engel runs 24/7 at -18c,connected to my Solar powered 90AH battery.The Solar system is completely separate from the house battery,but if ever the house battery losts its charge,I can simply recharge it from the Solar.I did read somewhere that it is better to hsve frozen goods at one end of the Engel,but I dont remember which end that is! Motor end comes to mind,but Im sure that someone can advise? Cheers.

 Thanks Mike....I was simply testing it to see how the whole system would work.As you suggest,I will not run it at -18,and it will primarily be used as a freezer,with a few stubbies thrown in towards the days end so that when we pull up for the night,the ale is good to go. Cheers

The chap who built my Trailblazer (60L) said I could bury it & it would still work! See www.norcoast.com.au

I put frozen food in the bottom, cover it with a piece of marine carpet & put the other food on top of it & wind the thermostat up a bit. We took frozen King George Whiting fillets from Ceduna to Townsville, via Birdsville once.

Another one for Techniice.
Had mine (80l Dual Zone) coming on 5+Yrs it's been every where.
Never had a problem even in 40+C temps still maintaining
-18 & -2C like my beer bloody cold.
Best thing with Techniice is 6yrs parts & labour warranty Australia wide
and their full stainless steel also drain plugs so you can hose it out.
You can only buy them online.
Started out with a 80L Engel replaced Electrics twice in 4yrs gave up when
they went the 3rd time and they didn't really like 40+C temperatures.

Should proof read before sending.
Techniice also have a viable speed compressor with 3 settings
Eco, Auto and Fast freeze.
