Does anyone have any recommendations for a caravan brake repairer in Mackay Qld. We have heard Mackay charges above anyone else in the state. Have been ever since the mining boom.
i got a quote in Mackay of $1000.00 for replacement shoes and magnets tandem.
Purchased the complete units (backing plate shoes and magnet)at Super Cheap in Mackay for $100.00 per axle. The rears can be cheaper is you can buy them. They dont have the handbrake lever.
i fitted them myself; 4 bolts, 4 wires and 2 cable clamps. Plus adjusting.
But, its about a 4 hour job, so the $1000.00 is about right.

if you can DYI its a $400.00 job.
im assuming you have drum, pads and magnets.

Yep, It's a simple job. I changed the drums & bearings while I was at it. Not sure that you will get quality parts at Supercheap though.
I had a look at the 'Recommendations - Mechanics' thread but couldn't find one in Mackay. Hetho's quote seems OK @ say $100/hour.
But perhaps your issue is a brake failure & not a complete replacement job.
Thanks fellas. Ended up with the complete unit from Brake n Auto parts. They also machine the drum. Very helpful and professional. Total cost about $400. Very happy.
