i understand that gas bottles must be turned off on the Spirit but what do you do, run the fridge on 12v for 10 hrs :( or empty it and turn it off, restocking at Devonport?
In my opinion you would probably have a flat battery by Devonport. Just run as cold as you can before boarding and being shut up on the ship it will stll be pretty cool still by Devonport.

Turn the fridge off . The contents of the fridge will still be cold at the end of the trip.
We have been to Tasmania twice with the van and had no problems.
If you run a three way fridge on 12v you will have a very flat battery.
Your tug battery will last about 3 or 4 hours and it will be dead. The Spirit has battery trolleys for those who do have a flat battery. Just turn it off or unplug the van from the car (this also ensures that you haven't left the lights on inside the van to drain your battery). Even if you have a fridge switch, I wouldn't rely on that isolating the fridge because of the movement of the ship (which I can assure you can be substantial at times).. It is inside the ship, temperatures are normally coolish and your fridge will be fine when you get to the other side.
