12v system

Hi, I have a 2010 Regal Roystan that we bougbt in January. it has been parked up for the last 3 months and was heading to Tom Price on Monday. 240v power is working fine but 12V power not working. Bought a new battery and still no power via 12volt (lights, radio and water pump etc) there is a 3 way switch next to the 240V trip switch. I have tried all 3 postions and still no lights etc. Any idea's out there.

On our caravan and On most I would suspect there is a switch ours is located at bottom of the door step, that isolates the 12volt system , that 3way switch might not be the one ....

Macca we have the same as Ron-D but the switch is located in a cupboard above the fridge you may need to look around unless someone with the same van can tell you if it has one and where it is.

Cheers

Main 12 v switch activates a solenoid (most likely rec-arc) ensure solenoid is working and check fuses.

If the van has a battery protector, make sure it hasn't been switched off.

Another possibility if you have solar fitted check the solar regulator to make sure the solar load hasn't been switched off.

Thanks' for the replies. I only have 2 x breakers 1 x 240v and the 12v 3 way switch. cant find any more. noticed that when switching lights on there is a very brief flicker but no light. I will postpone our trip and try and get it in to the auto electric shop on Monday.

Was it working when you picked it up ? did you get a demo on how it all worked , every van has its own nuances we have two switches in our van . If you have a volt meter trace the wiring back best as poss and check at each point of connection .

Mezza56. It was all working 6 or seven weeks ago. When i checked yesterday thought i must have left something on and drained the battery. Don't have a tester so went and got a new battery but still no power inside. I put the old battery on a CTEK charger and it came up to full charge in about a half hour. CTEK charger in the van boot is also showing the new battery as at full charge. As above I am getting a very brief flicker from the light when switching on so am assuming the power is dropping between the battery and inside the van. Spoke to a friend last night and he is going to have a look on Sunday. If not sorted will take to auto electric shop on Monday.
cheer's
Macca.

Before you go any further go down to Jaycar (if none nearby then an auto accessories store) and get a multimeter. They will give you some tips on using it. for $20 - $30 you may have saved yourself getting a new battery. When you do get one then practice using it. Monitor your battery voltages during all phases of the charge cycle and get used to the different voltages during all the stages of charging.
