My Avan Ray 14

Hi all this is my rig  An Avan Ray 14 2002 pop top pulled by Hilux 2wd diesel. It is set up to be self sufficien. 200w solar panel and a 105ah battery. I will be adding a folding panel for winter trips. I have an Eberspacher diesel heater (excellent) . Gas fridge, cooking and bbq. Joolca twin en-suite and gas hot water. I installed an 85 litre s/s tank under the rear for shower water. I travel with it empty. 1000 w inverter plus cig and USB ports are also fitted. light globes are obviously led. I use the front of the annex only just as a shield for the bbq and drop the door if the weather turns bad. I also use the Rainsaver Gutter tofill my tanks when raining. I have fitted draws inside the kitchen cupboards also.A Thetford toilet fits nicely in the en-suite dry room. I have other small projects planned but I think Ihave got most bases covered. We can stay off grid for quite a few days just by carrying a bit of extra drinking water. Not needed if it rains. Hope you find it interesting. Cheers Col

It certainly is not the best rig around but it does all that we want it to. The diesel heater was a blessing a week ago in central NSW. Col

Thanks. 16 years old now so always a few little jobs to do when I return from trips. They are mostly enjoyable jobs though like replacing vents and plastic stuff that wears out over time.

Colin, Looks nice. I'd be interested to know how much difference the solar panel makes to lifting the roof up.

I think it weighed 17 kg. The front is a bit harder to lift than the rear. I manage okay now but when I get old and decrepit I may have to fit some sort of lifter. Col
