Do I need an ambulance??

Gday...

When would you call triple-0 for an ambulance? When a fall results in a nasty fracture? Concern that labour is progressing so rapidly that you'll give birth before you can get to hospital? Weakness from prolonged vomiting and diarrhoea?

Cheers - John

A very interesting interesting article John,
Thank you for posting it.
I would think one criteria would be if the main need was transportation only or if the services of a paramedic on site was warranted.

Eg, The one time I personally called an ambulance was when I found a work colleague passed out.

The main things I was asked was. He was breathing but non responsive, his lips were blue and he had a history of heart problems.
The ambos arrived with lights and sirens in a MICA unit. (Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance if anyone is not familiar with the term)

That article certainly raises some questions I had never considered though.
Something we should all read and consider.

Thanks again

Jim

Good article John,
I believe that everyone should do an advanced First Aid course as the ones run by St John. Awareness of how to handle any casualty could also assist with the knowledge of the seriousness or other, and remember the life that you may save would most possibly be someone you really care about.

Never worry about calling " 000" better to ring and not be needed if you don't someone could dry , A trained operator will answer your call and ask the right question if they don't think an ambulance is required they will tell you , In Queensland we are told if you have chest pain ring " 000 " let the hospital prove that it not heart problems .
