A decision will be made today on the deployment of Australian firefighters to the United States to help battle bushfires across the north-west of the nation.
The National Multi-Agency Coordination Group (MAC) in the US formally requested assistance over the weekend, seeking 188 specialist firefighters from Australia and New Zealand.
Amazing that a country with the resources of the USA find a need to call on little ole Au to help.
Speaks volumes for the skills & reputation of our Firefighters.
I agree 100% Cupie regarding our skills as Firefighters, If I was 40 years younger, I would have had my hand raised high to offer assistance,
As would many of my mates who were members of the Bush Fire-brigade back in the 80's.
It amazes me to watch the Yanks trying to fight Bushfires ( or as they call them ) scrub or Wildfires, using town equipment such as Pumpers and Hook @ ladders,
Totally useless in the Bush, maybe they should send a squad of Firefighters out here and place them in a real Bushfire Brigade, then they might learn how to fight fires !!
