I have frequently towed vans up to 25 ft over it. Semi trailers do use it, but it is not heavily used by them. It may have the occasional rough spot, but taking your time and driving to conditions will see you in Gympie safely.

You never get a second chance at a first impression, so make the first a good one.
As Rocky Lizard said drive to the conditions and you will be fine. Some of the road edges can have tyre ripping drops. Of course they are always on the narrow sections. Overall the road is fairly good. A few narrow bridges but not too bad.The last eight K's to the Bruce highway is a little narrow and winding but just take care. Biggest problem you will find is joining the Highway. Sometimes it can take a while to get onto the main road with the traffic. Just have to be patient.
Yeah. All bitumen, single lane in one spot and a bit of a range to traverse from the Tansey end, but overall, not a bad run and saves a few kms. Again, drive to conditions. I have taken three vans over it over the years, ranging from about 25 years ago, when there was a fair bit of it unsealed, but now a pretty easy run.

Also, you have to be on the ball as you come into Tansey unless you have programmed your GPS. The turn is on the left and goes up a hill. The Kilkivan end comes out onto the Wide Bay Highway just outside Kilkivan.

We travelled it towing our 30ft 5th Wheeler, no real issues, some town roads are quite small, and few hills that may test your tug.. But all in all ok.
Try going through Widgee. This will bring you into the back of Gympie and keep you of the highway. May be an issue turning right onto the highway the other way and the highway is all single lane into Gympie. No highway less trucks
