I put curtains on all windows using stretchy wire. I also have stretchy wire the lenghth of the van inside that I can hang things on to dry if need be. I got the wire from the big green shed. All works great.

spring loaded curtain rod also works fine - available spotlight and most hardware stores. I used it with a shower curtain for privacy in the bedroom end. shower curtain is very light weight and folds back with minimum intrusion when opened. Have also used the springloaded rods for extra towel rails in shower and bathroom

Thanks for your quick replies.
I like the idea of the spring loaded rod. Can put it up and take it down easily.
I assume you can get one to fit the width of the van?
Cheers

the spring loaded bit fits over one end of standard plastic-coated curtain rod so rod can be cut to any length to fit the space. So no need to drill or screw anything into the van frame.

Hi Wanderone we have a full height van and as all of the windows came fitted with pelmets so my wife fitted spring loaded curtain rods on the inside of them rather than me drilling holes in the frame for the stretchy wire or brackets. She also made and fitted a heavy privacy drape that slides on large rings between the living area and the bedroom which can be tied back when travelling. This is also a spring loaded rod about 20mm in dia. she got the rods from that Japanese variety chain (Daiso) for about $5 which was half of what Spotlight wanted for the same thing. If your lucky you won't have to cut anything as each one is adjustable between certain lengths - our sizes all came straight off the shelf. So far none of the rods has ever fallen down and even if they did it would only take 30 seconds to put them back up. To tell you the truth I was pretty skeptical when she told me what she was planning to do but now I'm really impressed with the end result. When we ordred our van we asked about fitting a privacy curtain between these 2 areas and they quoted us something like $600 so we said don't worry about it we will work out how to do it ourselves.
Cheers

Hi there BB
(Just changed my Avatar)
We had a full sized van but now have a pop top.
Looking at it again today there is nowhere to actually even put a spring loaded rod as there is only canvas.
Only option seems to be putting some hooks of some sort in the roof to suspend a rod.
Not sure how thick the roof of a pop top is.
There are 2 very thin batons across the ceiling that might be OK to hang something off but I can't see that they would take much weight.
Hubby is not real impressed with my idea but now that I am officially grey I would appreciate a little bit of privacy at times lol

instead of putting it right at the top but rather where the canvas joins the main body of the van - just might need to duck to get under it if you a too tall

Thought about putting it where the canvas and walls meet as there is metal there.
The other thing is though as well as for privacy it is also to block out the lights from the kitchen/living areas.
I sometimes stay up later than him indoors and often I will get up when it is still a bit dark.
So the curtain is also to block any lights.
Cheers

Wandererone is there metal at the top of the canvas section where it attaches to the roof because you could use that to mount your adjustable curtain rod at roof height. You just need to find a rod that is long enough to reach from one wall across to the other. it would only take you a minute to put it up once you have raised your roof section. One of the reasons we put ours up was to block out the light from appliaces or as you said if somone wants to stay up and watch tv (with headphones) so my wife used a rubber backed material = pretty heavy but the rod doesnt move even when travelling. ive never had a pop top or really checked them out that closely so forgive me if my suggestion is not really that practical. I,m sure that there will be someone on here with a pop top that will have the answer to your problem.
Thanks everyone for your responses.
Him indoors is thinking about the best way to go about it :)
(This will take some time lol)
I'll let you know what we come up with.

Might have found a solution........ I was watching BHG yesterday and they did a carport reno. Because the ceiling was asbestos and couldn't be drilled he glued 3 wooden circles with cup hooks in them to the ceiling and hung plants from them. I think this idea could work well to hang a curtain. Easy to put up and take down when traveling. That's my idea anyway. I'll see if the other half can come up with a better one :)
