We were out that about 2 to 3 weeks ago with our dual cab towing 2800kgs dual axle caravan with no problems.

To Watsonville from Herberton the sealed road was very good then not long after leaving Watsonville road was unsealed, the concrete fords were needing some caution as the surfaces were a bit ordinary. Dropping your road speed would be good idea.

We enjoyed the mill museum and a bit further on call in and say hello to  Brian with unique collection of old motors, cars and lots more. Nice guy.

Camping on the common is good with showers at the town hall, don't forget a gold coin donation. Camp about halfway towards the hotel end, you will get the early morning sun there.

We left there and headed over to Chillagoe, the sign saids "not recommended for caravans". Transports use it, once again a very peaceful drive

, saw brumbies, walaroos andcsome beautiful parrots. Great drive.

Hope this is of some help.

Thank you. That will do me.Always try to drive to road conditions. Unfortunately will not be going on to Chillagoe. All those steps in the Caves do not suit my wife and I would probably struggle at the moment too.

Some of it is really tempting, my lady is not real good with the knees but took it slow and with encouragement went further, it was great.

Thank you for the reply. Hope to see your report on the adventure, just be careful of the well and windmill on the main road though Watsonville
