Looking at where the car and van ended up they could have been trying to avoid the other vehicle , hasn't rolled or jack knifed by looking at the pic , was possibly not the vans fault ?
There was another fatality south wedt of Cairns about 10 days ago too when a car and caravan rolled over on the Kenndey Highway. A (I believe) Victorian woman sadly passed away later in Cairns Base Hospital.
Another rollover occurred last weekend on the New England Highway near Cooyar in Southern Queensland when one caravanserais overtook another. According to the Police report, the overtaking van sideswiped the van being overtaken, causing the driver of the one being overtaken to lose control and roll, writing the tug off and severely damaging the van. Fortunately there were no serious injuries.
No doubt we are going to see more because of the number of caravans on the road, not all of which are driven by GNs

Carpe Diem - Seize the day!
You never get a second chance at a first impression, so make the first a good one.
With the ever increasing sales in the Caravan and camping industry one has to be of the opinion that there is a greater possibility of increases in road accidents.
in 2015 there were more than 500000 RV registered in Australia. And this is a growth industry, so we would be approaching close to 600500 units.
Now given that there are around 120000 units on the road at any given time there is a chance there will be accidents.
More interesting statistics on the caravan industry:
In 2015, Australians spent $8 billion on caravans and camping
Caravan and camping spending has increased by 24 per cent from 2011 to 2015
At any one time, there are 120,000 caravans on the road in Australia
There are 600,000 registered RV owners in Australia
40 per cent of owners have a camper trailer
40 per cent have a caravan
the remaining 20 per cent have a motorhome or camper van
Unfortunately, all this caravan travel does come with accidents

Thanks JD - that puts it all into perspective. Considering the number of caravans on the road, it would seem most nomads are doing pretty well and being nice and safe! B
