I have recently purchased a 2016 Jayco Expanda and I am looking at the best transport options....
The van is currently in Sydney, but can be transported to Brisbane prior to handover. I am looking at the best, safest and cheapest option to transport to Darwin.
Does anyone have any recommended carriers?
I am even entertaining the possibility of offering free hire for a couple of weeks, for someone to do a trip from either Sydney/Brisbane to Darwin...
I am currently working on a 4 week on, 1 week off roster.
It would be a pretty full on week driving from Darwin to Sydney or Brisbane and back in a week.
I would prefer to have the van transported and enjoy the van during my week off....
Moss, I think that your offer of a free trip to tow your van to Darwin is a good suggestion, particularly during the popular winter period.
I presume that the Expanda is 2nd hand, therefore the cost of hiring transport services is probably over the top in relation to the price of your caravan, perhaps you could put an add out there to see if some one doing vehicle transport has room for it or there may be someone going to Darwin for a holiday or work who would like the chance of travelling there in your caravan and driving or flying home.

There is another option. You can transport by rail. It goes via Melbourne and Adelaide but does not add to the cost. A friend of mine used this option a couple of years ago and found it to be the least expensive.
I have used Toll for cars to and from Darwin to Sydney - expect to pay around two thousand dollars. Cheaper than supplying fuel and costs for a Nomad to tow it up to Darwin, and their return fares.
Be aware that if you have a carrier pick up the unit you will almost certainly never be able to claim any warranty for any pre-existing faults.
