Unmanned caravan park

Just wanting some thoughts on anyone's experience with leaving their caravan at the Windorah unmanned caravan park ? We are thinking of leaving our van there for a couple of nights in August while we head out to Birdsville and stay at the pub. How secure it will be is our concern ? Thanks in advance for any feed back. Cheers

Friends (in 1976) left their van at the Birdsville Police Station while they did the Birdsville - Windorah - run south & back up to Birdsville loop again. We met them at a bore crossing north of the Cooper Creek.
Your van's security amounts to ?? security protection you have, type of coupling, chains locked, etc. We saw a large Bushmaster van at a park just off the Eyre Highway where the owners went down to the Eyre Bird Sanctuary about 4 years ago. It was ok just sitting there - the chains were just hanging. We weren't game to leave ours there!

I certainly wouldn't leave it there unattended, asking for trouble.no

We stayed there for 1 night last August. There did not seem to be any problems in town with DUIs, teenager parties. Actually I am thinking of going back in a year or 2 to get to Birdsville without van. You could always ask at the pub or Police station if they knew of a safe place to leave the van.

Safe travels

Frankly I would check your policy too as mine says that I have a duty of care to make reasonable effort to keep van secure ! Cheers

We left our van at the Windora cp last year for two nights while we went out to Birdsville. A lot of other vanners leave their vans there and if there was any trouble with anything happening to vans I think the word would soon get around and I havent heard or read of any thing happening.
