RE: 12V air compressor

When you compress air to 90psi you you have 6 times the moisture in the air which then goes into the tyres.

This it the water in the moisture trap after pumping up one tyre. If one is airing up & down regularly you are adding a lot of water to the tyre. This can cause corrosion to the rims from the inside which can end up causing a porous seal.

A moisture trap needs to be further down the line to receive cool air to work properly.

My compressor cuts off at 135psi & while pumping up doesn't fall below 120psi. So that is a minimum of 8 times the moisture content.

So cooling down the After Cooler will condense moisture as the colder the air the less moisture it can hold. Then the moisture trap will do a better job.

I have also been looking at installing a silica gel desiccant filter, but they need to be a decent size. The little ones are a waste of time. Then you need a dust filter after it so air tools aren't ruined.

Gee mate, you could save lives with that air, or at least go underwater pearling.

Do have have a diving bell.? biggrin

No, but I have thought of using an old aluminium 80cf diving air tank, but no room.

The ARB 4 litre air tank works well to top up pressure between inflating tyres (actually only 3.78 litres as I measured its volume with water, so it's only 1 gallon).

For air tools only 2 compressors is not enough volume, even 3 compressors is really still not enough volume of air at 90psi.
