A road crew supervisor hired Johnny to paint the line down the middle of a highway. He was sceptical about hiring him given he didnt have experience, but he said he really needed the job.
He told Johnny he needed to complete 2km per day, then set him up with brushes and paint.
After day one, the supervisor was pleased to find Johnny had painted 4km of road and praised his excellent progress.
On day two, Johnny completed only 2km. His supervisor was surprised, given he had done twice as much the first day, but didnt say anything.
On day three, the supervisor was disappointed to learn Johnny painted only 1km of road. Johnny was called to the supervisors office.
On your first day, you completed 4km, on your second day 2km, and now on day three, only 1km. Whats the problem, Johnny?
Well, Johnny replied, isnt it obvious? Every day, I got further from the paint can.
