Just the usual road problems, being a major truck route there are lots of potholes on the left side fog line. Just need to look ahead when trucks are coming towards you if you need to move right to avoid them.
As Peter D says the way via Dubbo, Narrabri, Goondiwindi then Warwick to Brisbane is on generally good roads. There are only two annoying sections - Yass to Boorowa and Gilgandra to Coonabarabran. Both those sections are undulating and winding. (Yet that map shows the Gilgandra/Coonababran road to be straight!)
Other than that almost the whole road is straight - particularly from Coonababran to Narrabri (note there are no servos in this section), Narrabri to Moree , Moree to Goondiwindi. Also Goondiwindi to Warwick then to Brisbane.
If you have been down the Clyde or Brown mountains then you can laugh when Queenslanders talk about Cunninghams Gap - it is four lanes wide and like a freeway on ramp!
All good road. Drove that way a couple of months ago and whilst there are plenty of trucks I had no problems. The stretch between Stanthorpe and Warwick is pretty rough for a major highway.
Murray,
Cunninghams Gap is NOT four lane - three at best, and if you want a really difficult range road, try the highway, if you can call it that, from Yungaburra down to Gordonvale. It is known as the Gillies Highway. That will definitely test you, but dont try to take a van up or down it!

Sorry, Dave1952 - Although I have been up and down Cunninghams Gap four times the last time was three years ago. My memory of it was that it was like a freeway on-ramp when compared to the mountains around Canberra - Brown, Clyde and Macquarie Pass.
I well remember the first time when I visited friends in Brisbane and he asked if we had any problems going down the 'Gap' which I thought was funny.
Hi Murray, apology accepted. Our biggest problem with the gap is the trickiest who think that the speed limit should be 110 and they come to grief. DTMR have reduced the speed limit to 70 km per hour because of that and that is the reason for the helicopter landing pad just before the last pinch down to Blue Range. It is often closed due to truck crashes.
