It doesn't matter where you go, there are always some low life persons around who feel what you have should be given to them for free!
The Qld government is currently supporting them too - the coppers catch most of the crooks (& they can be sweet little kids, aged from 8 years upwards) but the judges let them out on bail for them to reoffend. Our detention centres are too full to jail them all!
So Grey Nomads heading north for the warmth, BE CAREFUL! LOCK EVERYTHING WITH A KEY (including the locks)! Don't rely on the "snick" catch.
We were in Coonabarabran a few nights ago - our neighbours were from Victoria & had gone out site seeing that day, only to return to their car & find a couple of needy souls wanted their driving lights. They had removed the lock nuts bit were disturbed so this couple can still see the road at night!
I call the low lifes 7 percenters. They are present in most populated areas. They don't generally work and they exist on two things, government handouts and what they can steal from others. Quite frankly you can spot them in a crowd, your sixth sense will make you suspicious of these misfits wherever you travel. Mainly because they look out of place and they don't feel comfortable talking to decent caravaners. If you see a drop kick/s in a caravan park, you should notice them because of their traits and their looks, if you smell a rat - be aware. The trouble is we all can become complacent and let our guard down whilst travelling and camping. Everyone has made good suggestions to combat it. AlPal.
Our group got done over in Dubbo in 2015 on the way to the cape, and last year I lost snorkel and light bar in caravan park in Dubbo. WILL NOT ever stay in that town again.
I just want to know re. My first post , if the window is open only half an inch, can it be reefed open or will the hinges stop this happening. does not look like the original poster is getting back to answer so does anyone else know for sure? Also, what is a snitch catch? Thanks everyone.
Many members don't bother getting back to topics they started and people asked questions Karen, not sure why though as it is just courtesy to reply to questions or even just a quick thankyou goes a long way.
That said, could be the OP maybe sick or out of range for a while. Uncle Al might have taken over or got up first. I have uncle Al living with me and if I don't get up first I'm a gonner for the day.

Hi, the rocket...I apologise for not responding sooner...I did not intend to appear rude.
It seems the handbag may have been left in the seat and they thief did force the hinge. All is repaired now, and they are heading off again next week.
we went away last weekend for 3 nights and even though we were one of only a few caravanners/campers, my husband was sure to lock the van even when we were out at the fire pit...we were opposite side of van door and he was more cautous than we have ever been.
