We own one, 2015 model 24ft. I think some changes have happened in quality control since then. Still have a list of jobs to fix or modify. Can help you out with ideas if you want. Ours tows well. We have the model with recliner chairs so its a little different with the forward layout. Happy to chat about it.

As with most customer complaints the problem seems to stem to the dealer.
You have purchased 3 Jayco products previously so I assume that if you had had problems you would have a complaint by now.
Most Jayco bashers on these fora have never owned one.
Then there is the factor that some people are just a'holes and are going to be difficult, no matter what anyone tries to do for them.
It doesnt matter what brand you are considering there will be someone who is not happy with that product.
Since we have been out on the road we have seen some horror stories first hand from many varying brands.
I thought long and hard a out buying a Silverline based on some of the stories you read on the internet. My main consideration apart from price was that Jayco offered the layout and configuration we wanted.
I went to one dealer who to be honest, instilled no confidence in me at all with an untidy workshop and the fact that the salesperson could not get back to me on several occassions and was showing me a new van that they had robbed parts off of to fit to other vans.
I went to another dealer who was professional and polite in their dealings, offered a trade in price in writing, had a service division that was professional and a service manager that was approachable and that is really what sealed the deal.
My van is a June 2017 21.65-4 Outback model and for convenience I bought it off the showroom floor.
I have not had any major problems and in most cases really nothing that the twitch of a screwdriver didnt fix.
To answer mickies question this is what has happened to my van..
Approx 4 weeks from delivery we had one of the water tanks filling when we were connected to mains water so I phoned the Service Manager and he sent me a non return valve which took me 10 minutes to fit. At that time I was 200 kls from the dealer and it was certainly a more easy option than to tow it that distance for a 10 minute job. About 3 months ago I had the brakes coming on intermittently and found that one of the mounting screws for the Alko sway sensor had been overtightened and the head had broken off. Again about 10 minutes with a drill and a couple of pop rivets and it was fixed. I was nowhere near a dealer when that happened although if I could not have done this work myself I feel that any workshop could do it.
The other problem I had was not Jayco directly but from Sphere whereby the dish decided not to tune itself in. The agent in Sydney sent another dish and it worked fine.
Jayco have a tad over 50% of the market in Aus so just for that reason there will be more bad news stories. Then social media has a big effect on the volume of these comments as well. I have personally seen major problems with other brands, many are the very brands that some members have on this forum but in all but a couple of cases the dealer has rectified their problems.
If you are happy with your current Jayco dealer and the deal that they have offered you is suitable for your needs then there is no reason not to run with your fourth Jayco.

I have a Jayco Starcraft Outback 2014 model, the caravan has traveled 31,600 kms (approx) in 3 and a bit years travelling Australia full time, sure I have had a few "teething" problems with the van which I have repaired myself after getting advice from Jayco dealers when needed who have been very helpful during my journey, trust me I am no handyman so my repairs have been very basic.
The van also gets a service every 10.000 kms
All caravans have problems, even the more expensive ones, but I still believe that a Jayco caravan is still good value for money

Have purchased our Silverline, Been on a couple of trips , some rough roads , front lounge is great to relax on, the finish on this van is spot on, last van had a deisel heater ,this one has gas, imo a little better but it is personal choice (toss a coin) air bags work well , well balanced van tows great (BT50 auto) no movement when being passed by Bdoubles, At this point no need for hitch, travelling on Sunraysia Highway and was hit by a BIG Willy Willy van did not move a great deal , was concerned as it was 6 metres wide,
CONS . WHY put that gas bayonet under van ,too hard to get at , I can get down ,but have trouble getting out and up,
SOLUTION. Purchased a flip up flush wall mount gas bayonet $110,00 gas plumber $90.00 =$200.00 worth every cent.
Glad you like your new van. I would have to agree one hundred percent on the gas bayonet.....it is so yesterday. I do note that many other brands of vans have that rediculous type of fitting, it must be that the designers have never ever had to use one.
I had a diesel heater in the last van but at this stage have not bothered with the new Jayco as currently, due to family circumstances, we are almost always in a park or an area with power. Staying north of the Tropic of Capricorn during winter helps as well.

Anywhere from the north of Rockhampton will put you in the general area.
We enjoy many areas from Gracemere near Rocky right up to Cairns. Last year we spent some time in Bundaberg which is a bit further south but still nice weather.
Mackay is a good place to catch up on supplies and Andergrove is our favourite spot there.
We have friends and family in Bowen and in Cairns and we catch up with them during the southern winter. If you go inland from Cairns to Mareeba it is cold overnight but nice days and anywhere inland can get cold at night at times. That wouldnt worry you with a heater.
You need to get wiki camps if you want to search out free and low cost camps but they get pretty busy during the nomad migration and if stating in parks you will definitely need to book if travelling along the coast.

I probably should add that the Tropic of C extends right across our fair land and not only in Queensland so the sky is the limit if wanting to stay in a warmer climate during the Aussie winter.

We did exactly that, 2015 JGC towing a 2017 Silverline 24.75-3, absolutely brilliant combination, and the knockers? 99.9% of whom get their informed opinions from campfire chatter of they believe competing manufacturers rhetoric.
The Jeeps sweet spot towing the SL was 110 and shed sit there all day if it was safe to do so, returning an average fuel consumption of 15.5lt per 100km.
The SL gave us no issues at all, the only warranty claims were a plastic clip on the black glass of the main access door coming off. Jayco replaced the Entire door unit, and the breakaway switch was replaced under a government safety recall. So the Actual Jayco manufactured product performed flawlessly.
Very happy with that outcome.
But similarly with other owners, my biggest beef with Jayco was the Dealer sales people and their interpretation of honesty, diplomacy and integrit.
Weve sold our SL now and are in the process of importing a Montana 5th wheel as our full time rig, but if I ever look to buy a normal caravan again, I will consider a Jayco, and I will purchase it direct from the factory.
I have just downloaded the Silverline brochure. What struck me was the very heavy tare weight of them. The lightest is 2,700 kg and the heaviest (with the double width slide-out) is around 2,950 kg. If you are going to use a twin cab ute or a Cruiser to tow the van then you have to be very mindful of the tugs gross combination weight (GCM.) If you are going to load the van up to its maximum weight then you are going to have to severely limit the load in the tug to keep the whole rigs weight under the GCM. If you are looking at a Silverline then I think the American vehicles are better as a tug than the Japanese vehicles. I know many vanners tow these with Japanese vehicles but I wonder how many of those rigs are way overweight, particularly those with car top boats. I suspect very few with Silverlines take much notice of their loaded weights and in particular with the low GCM ratings of the twin cab utes.
I would suggest you read these links before committing yourself.

That weight, was it with a WDH, full gas, water and fuel. Have you got three water tanks? and have you got the large slide-out?
One of the reasons why I have not got a Roo bar and WDH, to keep the weight down.
Hi iana, Q 1 no WDH first van that we have owned that did not need one (imo) / Been towing vans and trailers for 50+years, Yes 2 full water tanks ,plus full gas , we have a slide out bed only , we have a front club lounge and is very comfy. BT50 has a bullbar ,no winch (do not need one ) Have just returned from portfairy (FOOTBALL REUNION ) BT50 returned Mildura to Portfairy 14.1 Litrers to 100, Portfairy to Mildura 20 Litres per 100 ( Wind ), have been getting 14.7 on other trips , happy with that .
So far nothing to complain about Jayco van , and with the build of this one , I do not expect any problems , have taken it over rough roads ,this van tows
straight and solid passing b/doubles carting hay" ect"

Hi all, thanks for sharing the interesting information spread throughout this conversation thread.
I am considering buying a 2nd hand 2014 Silverline 21.65-4 OB and was wondering if there are any issues with the a slide out bed. I've seen comments in other forum's that suggest the vans with a slide out beds experience condensation issues. Is condensation or any other issues a factor with these slide out models?
Also thanks for the reminder about GCM, as I am driving a 200 series LC I'll definitely need to check GCM.
