You're right about expensive ... saw some over $1600 but with a 7 year 'warranty'. Of course they had a cheap non branded China made option for around $400 and the 'sun hats' seem OK & cheaper.
I'll stick to my crappy looking $100 silver tarps that last about 4 years if I put a bit of shade cloth on top..

We bought one thru eBay for a 150.00. But it is only for a short term winter stand. Looks similar in quality to that we saw in caravan shop in Wangaratta for almost 500.00

If space permits it is cheaper in the long run to put up a carport with alsynite panel in roof over solar, you can add café curtains to sides for total weather-proofing. This provides better security with additional anchor points additionally power can be run to covered area.
A small shed in rear is also possible to store extra gear see attached images for a range to suit all budgets and styles. www.bing.com/images/search

My (almost on its last legs) five year old Prestige brand cover cost me around $300.
Does that mean a Coverworld one will last ...500 years?

I agree 100%.
20 years ago when we got our van we planned to do the loop then sell the van & tug to contribute to overseas tours.
So we decided to go for silver tarps as covers.
Still got the van and have used perhaps 5 tarps.
Certainly should have put up a carport. Too late now though.

Caravan Covers Australia @ Forest Glen Sunshine Coast, Storm Covers Warana. Companies on the Sunshine Coast make heavier duty covers because of the hail storms that frequent the area during the warmer months. We have one, very heavy and expensive but does a great job when needed.
Cheers,

Where you live has a bearing on the cover you choose you have a big investment sitting in the drive so doesn,t it deserve the best protection possible .life of the silver cheap covers in salty windy enviroment will be very best 2yrs and offer no protection should be in a hail storm prone area.
