To Mareeba Qld

Hi all

I'm heading to the Cape in June and will be staying in Mareeba for a couple of weeks first. My question is - which is the best way up to Mareeba from the coast? Is it an easier drive up from Innisfail or is it better to travel up through Cairns and Kuranda?

Thanks

Hendo

I allways go the Palmerston HWYfrom Innsfail , If you are looking for a laid back caravan park between Atherton and Mareeba , The Walkamin central is a good place to stay .

To Innisfail and up the Palmerston, through Malanda and Atherton.  It's a nice drive.

Check local road conditions as they have received "Big Mobs" of rain recently & there may be some damage.

Cairns to Kuranda is narrow & very windy.

the Palmerston gets my vote every time. The Gillies from Innisfail to the tableland is virtually right hand down left hand down when climbing the range. Very tight and steep for large caravans.
