Gday...

Yes ... there were recalls for the Discovery 3 ... and for the Discovery 4 as well.

Here's the list for your interest.

Some of the newer Discovery's are caught in the airbag recall .. but not my old clunker.

I am resisting the temptation to assume you are having a dig that I haven't posted recalls for the Land Rover marque - if that is so, go back through my 'recall posts' and you will see there are posts regarding Land Rover recalls I have originated.

Cheers - John

I apologise to you Rocky if I have misread the reasons for your posts highliting recalls with the various manufacturers but I do detect a slight favouritism toward your selection of vehicle in other posts.

I could be totally wrong and for that please accept my apology..

 Gday...

No need to apologise Dicko - I just get tired of hearing people make opinionated, misplaced comments about other's vehicles.

Actually, au contraire. I may be incorrect, but I very rarely initiate any of the virtues of my make of vehicle or even initiate a recommendation that others buy one.

I do believe, that when a post/poster makes some ludicrous comment about how completely unreliable, unsuitable and expensive the Land Rover Discovery is, then I will sometimes relate my HISTORY and EXPERIENCE with MY vehicle - as an exemplary example of the marque.

I very rarely espouse the virtues of ANY make or model of vehicle - I have owned many over the past 50 or so years and they have all been vehicles that have 'done their job' - some better than others. All vehicles have limitations to some degree ... some are bought not suitable for the task they are intended ... too many are not properly maintained and get a 'reputation' ... and thankfully, the majority of all vehicles are well loved and well travelled.

Cheers - and keep loving whatever vehicle you have - John

Go Rocky,
I know where you are coming from....
I have thoroughly enjoyed owning and driving most vehicles that I have owned over my life but I will tell you this...

I hate Falcon utes... I have used them in my business over the years and thay owe me more than I owe them...if you know what I mean.

Never again...but this is only my opinion...others may have had a great run from this product.
They are cheap to buy second hand, and there just maybe a reason for thisbiggrin biggrin

I feel discriminated against.

There is never a recall for my 1996 GQ Patrol and I've been waiting for almost 20 years.

Perhaps I aught to start a Me Too group.

LOL LOL

Should I say thank you.   The second one may apply to my truck.  Now I'll have to check it.

At least I don't feel discriminated against.

Although laws have changed a bit, recalls were historically voluntary and down to the manufacturers initiative to issue them. Many manufacturers hid behind the self-regulation privilege and failed to issue recall notices, but it didn't mean their vehicles were devoid of faults. Another slant is to look at those manufacturers that HAVE issued recalls, sometimes for the most minor of faults, and see it as a positive. Jeep is a good example - I'm happy they've often taken the initiative that many competitors didn't and I'd rather have a vehicle from a manufacturer with that policy than one that keeps me in the dark. I'll stay with my beloved Jeep, and along with other Jeep owners (and Land Rover owners) continue to enjoy being a fringe dweller. Better than being a boring lemming smile.gif
