Google RV roof lifter systems. I am planing to fit one soon, they look simple and I hope easy to install, will certainly help me, and then I can have my solar panels on the roof and not worry about the weight when pushing the roof up.

A simpler option might be the air lifters a friend has fitted to her van, there are four "Air tubes" fitted externally between the edge of the roof and the poptop skirt/sleeve, push a button and a little air compressor fills them with air and up she goes. They were fitted after the initial build when it was found the top was just too heavy to lift by its owner. There is one 6mm air line supplies the tubes around the edge of the roof. Works every well and only required one 6mm hole to be drilled for the air line.

have you thought about fitting the jayco lift bars each end.     around $100   just fitted them to mine   now roof very easy to lift  with solar panels on top   not hard to fit  money well spent
