Someone on this forum, a few years ago, mentioned the type of alarm which Peter (above) has just mentionedI purchased one from Bunnings for about $79, but they must have come down in price, below is a link to one at $59They have a sticker on the side and you can write the date of purchase, plus the date you have to replace themhttps://www.bunnings.com.au/first-alert-photoelectric-carbon-monoxide-smoke-alarm_p4211486
Also there is no harm in carrying spare Alkaline batteries, from memory (9 volt for fire alarm), as they have several years shelf life

And if you have a NSW registered van the smoke detector must be a model that is fitted with a hush button.
