Gday...

One day someone will figure out why bush/wild fire will not burn some houses but burn those next door ... or burn the farmhouse but not the barn next to it.

Nature is unfathomable. hmm

Cheers - John

I believe that a caravan park was burned down, I wonder if it was the beachside park co-owned by Frankie J Holden ?

I have a cabin at Kalaru, 7klms from Tathra. I can,t contact anybody as phones lines are down. Hope its alright. Also, some elderly friends live at Mogarreeka, just nth of tathra. I am in Nq so am safe.A bit worried about they as they are in their last 70s. The news said nobody hurt, so thats the main thing. Will post as news comes to hand. Bill

The beachside van park was evacuated before the fire, but the big4 across the road was hit hard. The powerful north westerly winds made fighting the fire almost impossible, and in some places it burned down to the sea. What a pity. Its a lovely place.

My cabin is all right, but the road to Tathra is still closed, and will be for some time. The residents at Kalaru are safe. I will post more when I know it. Bill

 Join up with Blazeaid.

Not sure about the NSW fires yet, but Blazeaid has already been mobilised in Vic with hay being transported for stock, camps are being set up, one confirmed at Cobden and others being investigated.

Look up the Blazeaid website for more info.

This is a fantastic organisation well suited for Grey Nomads.

Police and firies are stopping people going back to Tathra due to asbestos problems. There will be a bus going thru with residents, but no one is allowed to get off til the all clear is given. My cabin is fine, but the cvan park manager won;t let me open it up for evacuees due to security problems. My thoughts are with those who lost houses and cabins. 39 vans were also destroyed. What a pity. Maybe John it's as simple as whether a hot ember falls on some combustible material or not but I have often wondered that myself especially when you see the aerial shots of the destruction. I have been following this on the local media over here, I really feel for the people in that area but one thing I am sure of is that a lot of fellow Aussies will chip in and give them a hand.
