Hi all

Very easy to be negative no matter where you live and heaven help us when we start believing what we read in "any" news paper.

Yes, SA does have its probably but so do many other places in Australia, in particular the rural regions.
I think most people who live here, and also many people who visit from the Eastern states, agree that Adelaide is a great city to live and very affordable compared to Melb, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, the whole country has its problems with employment and sadly I think this is something that is only going to get worst. Jobs are JUST NOT THERE any more

I think we have a biggger problem with the quality of "some", if not all, of our "so called" Journalists out there!!

cheers, SA is great, but don't tell anyone, just be negative, we like it that way, less people want to come her that way!

Election rubbish . Wish the (G O V ) on both sides would just run the country . Same with media . Just announce the news . Not thier view !! Yea I know politics !! Sorry . Lol

SA always has struggled, driest state in the driest continent, almost bankrupt in the early days and of course lack of water.

We've also had more than our share of bizarre murders over the years.

Could not agree more Hewy54, lets keep it all to ourselves, great beaches, more wineries than anywhere else in Oz, great outback, we actually have a peak hour unlike Sydney & Melb which is 24/7, great weather, etc etc, the list goes on

While I prefer the Outback/bush (anywhere isolated), I love Melbourne, Adelaide & Hobart for short visits. Brisbane I just cannot like, no matter how hard I try.

We have lived in WA, NT, QLD, NSW and SA, as well as travelled to all the other states for holidays, realistically there is no difference between any of them: unemployment figures change year to year in all states, as does pretty well everything else. Once upon a time Adelaide was the cheapest state for Electricity and gas. In years to come it will change again. Nothing remains the same, change is inevitable. Housing in SA is cheap as compared to all the other states as are a number of other things. Probably why our wages are lower, if they were the same as Sydney's wages we would all be living in palaces.

We currently reside in Adelaide's south, if I had my way I'd live in WA, but the wife didn't like living on another planet when we were there so we moved back to Adelaide to be near her youngest. Home is not where the heart is, home is where you currently live.

If Jay has his way we will lead the way in renewables, but at what cost. These pollies don't do it for us, they do it for themselves: Jay wants to be remembered, as did Gillard with her carbon tax and every other leader for one of their pet projects. Shame they can't work for us instead of their egos!

Yep!! biggrin biggrin biggrin I agree 100 per cent with both Hewy & Wanda, I have been in this state for the past eight years and could not be happier!!! Here's to hoping we stay the 'Best Kept Secret' from the madness of the rest of the states for a bit longer hey! From Kangaroo Island SA.....Gwynnie

Rental/sales prices in Adelaide/suburbs were surprising to me when we were there. Tassie is horrid - overpriced, and rentals are scarcer than hen's teeth. The figures for unemployment there are routinely bad. But there are advantages........ it is a beautiful place, and the lifestyle is very laidback. But I'd not live there again, the cold is too much for my joints.

Time was when the newspapers actually printed what HAD happened.

Now they print what they THINK WILL happen. That's not news, that's predicting the future.

Anyone thought how impossible it is to truly compare cities or states? No two are the same, every place has it's own attributes, downsides, even climate. The matter of which we personally prefer is the ultimate subjective exercise. You know where you like to live and your favourite places to visit, and no one else's opinion should make the slightest difference. Why waste energy on this endless and pointless debate? Go where makes you happy!

Just went onto the Electoral Commission official site to check how the various seats in SA panned put.
The website has crashed..... biggrin biggrin biggrin

Maybe the office was not expecting the result.. biggrin

Hi all,

Heres my two peneths worth.

I was born in NSW, lived in all the states thanks to the RAAF. We decided to settle in SA because it IS the friendliest state and city. The countryside is full of spectacular scenery (as are other states) and mostly people respect the rules and others.

The other best place is Perth (my opinion) we lived there for 4 years when I did my tour in 2FTS.

All arguments aside, I hate Sydney and Melbourne. Brisbane is too humid and Darwin too windy and wet.

This is my opinion and we are each entitled to an opinion.
