Has any one permantly used tent as main sleeping etc i was thinking of setting up a tradytrailer as my kitchen etc and have solar battery set up. I would paint and fish i gave a stuffed back have to talk about morphine and traveling i hear its a pain to get interstate with perscription. Im in pain here so no different. I have to get away family are doing me in . Im male 63

consider how you would set a tent up depending on how stuffed the back is but if your using morphine I would think pretty stuffed

If you're camping with bad back you will need this type of camp bed www.bcf.com.au/Product/Wanderer-Premium-Camper-X-Leg-Stretcher/521060, also consider how you will pack up a tent Oz tents are easy to set up.
Also the side lift roof top is popular with many young travellers. www.bcf.com.au/Product/XTM-Standard-Manual-Rooftop-Tent-In-Store-Purchase-Only/520761 but you will require a different camp bed such as air mattress.

Lol Santa. Nice thoughts thx but i think im passed their help i have tried But need to go.. I have an easy pop up tent 10x10 and folding queen bed. I paint so would keep busy i dont gave the funds for a trailer camper. But will get coved trailer only have Hyundai alantra 4cyl I would try free stay as if im sore after setup i can stay a week wont matter thx for you concern i think i would be in more danger staying in my bleak unit in geelong.

I have one of these www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/camping-hiking-best-sellers/dune-4wd-mat/p/BP90024949001 . It's brilliant. I always feel a camp stretcher is going to collapse under me as I'm a bit of a restless sleeper.

If you need a tent for long term use, you will need to get one you can easily stand up in (which I am assuming you need). A small vestibule is a good idea so you can get in & out without bringing the weather in and out with you. Tents do have a "use-by" date when it comes to sunshine and rain.

Wind is always the worst enemy of tents (for me at least). I've seen dome tents collapse in the wind where the poles bend, snap and rip through the sides. A well anchored vertical sided tent appears to be a better option.

Many tent campers use a portable toilet (shower) setup. However, the pop-up ones tend to lie on the ground with even the smallest puff of wind. Saw someone with the more solid pole one recently and it hardly moved in severe winds. search.bcf.com.au/search

Take a walk around somewhere like Anaconda, BCF, Rays, Aussie Disposals.

As far as medication goes, all you need is a script as far as I know.

You might consider a hammock, if you have a bad back. I have spoken to several who now use one exclusively. Seriously easy to set up and to get in and out of. Modern style asymmetric cut hammocks have you sleeping flat and your weight evenly supported. I have done many a night in a hammock off a ute and found it great because you never have to get up and down from the ground. Only need one serious mounting point on the trailer for hammock and tarp. Clips on the hammock also help with setting up. I often sleep in a hammock out of the campervan, especially on hot nights.

Think about a platform on the trailer A- frame large enough to put a pop up shower tent on. Not so much for a shower but a great place to put the Porta Pottie.

Pretty easy to set up if you need to get some peace and quiet away from what stresses you now.

Gidday.

Many years ago I purchased a 7x4 ft trailer with a frame and canvas top. Put a false wooden floor in it and a mattress on top of that. Onder that floor I put tent poles and ropes etc. Worked a treat. Much more convenient than a tent IMO. Can stop anywhere and just unzip the rear. I ordered the canvas top with roll up windows with fly.

You can use a used trailer often for sale for $150. Bent tube shouldn't be too expensive. Canvas top will be a bit of money. Maybe look for one already done or an enclosed trailer. A trailer will allow you a water tank under it with filler and tap on the side. Maybe 85 litre tank? even more. Large toolbox on the front for bbq and cooking stuff, even portapotti if large enough.

The ideas are endless but best to do a bit of planning if you can, now or after you start your trip. Good luck

Hi RobC - welcome to the forum We are on the road full time, and we see people travelling with all sort of set ups. Guy we met in WA has a tradey trailer, one side is for storage, the other he has set up with led lights, cooking utensils, and little gas stove, his food, cups, plates etc. He has a large tarp he pus over the trailer, and the tent, works well for him.

I will say that getting up and down off the floor, is not going to help your back one little bit. But if that is what you have to do make sure you take a small chair or stool in there with you to assist in getting up, tarps also will be your friend - under the tent, so no holes appear, large one to go over the top of everything.

I think you should be ok with your morphine, at least in Victoria, as your doc is here, but some states need a script written by a doc from that state - i.e, NT, Queensland.
