Bought one of these a couple of years ago. They are a good unit. I buy rolls of the storage material on eBay - cheapest way.

Do you use it very much and if so for what sorts of food?

I freeze the food I wish to keep and wonder if I'd use a vacuum packer after the novelty had worn off?

AIUI, the refill pack consists of 40 bags AND 2 rolls.

    Bags: 40 pack -- 22 x 30cm

    Rolls: 2 rolls -- 28(W)cm x 5(L)m

Moreover, as they are "microwave, boil and freezer safe", they could probably be washed, boiled or zapped, and then reused ... if one were in immediate need.

I have the Sunbeam version, suit 200mm rolls, (several years old now, purchased at Kmart), still works well. Buy rolls wherever cheaper at the time.

I don't buy bags as they are a set size, they sometimes are too big. a roll can be cut to suit specific items.

Still use it now. Great for all sorts of foods, but mainly used for frozen cooked meals.

With precooked meals remember to be careful if a liquid meal. I will semi freeze soups in a flat container first then put in bag to finish freezing.

When travelling a stew/casserole can be heated up in the bag in boiling water. the water can then be used for dishes etc.

If going bush for a bit, I generally have a couple of large rolls frozen in bags, which thaw and are as good as fresh.

Also has the advantage that when food is thawed, if your appetite changes it's mind, the bagged food will be fine in the fridge for a few days.

I generally use for bread/rolls, bacon, cold meats, raw meat, cooked meat, one pot type meals.

Most important thing when using it to clearly mark/label each item. I use a black texta and find it easier to mark bag before item put in.

I got an Aldi one about 8 years ago and it has worked well.

I make biltong (google it) and vacuum seal it in batches at it can go mouldy in humid weather.

Spagetti bolognaise and casseroles for trips get vacuum sealed. (without bones as they can puncture)

My wife can get a little car sick so we buy bulk crystalized ginger and split up and vacuum seal.

fresh meat can be vacuum sealed.(then frozen to last even longer(no freezer burn this way))

Vaccuum pack cereal, flower etc to stop weevils.

Nuts keepp forever vacuum sealed. buy bulk cheap and divide up.

So many uses.

We used to have a Kogan one, but it was starting to not work so well. It got replaced by an Aldi one a year ago and that one has worked flawlessly so far. A great invention I reckon.

Apart from the obvious -"Food" I use mine for some spare parts eg spare wheel bearing sets. vaccumed there is no moisture or risk of contaminants.

We use it quite often. I think frozen food keeps better when "sucked". We seldom use it for food which we don't intend to freeze. Actually, our Aldi one is our second, we wore out the seals in our original Sunbeam one, and of course, it was a few years old so spare parts were unavailable.
