Hi All, next question! We didnt think this is something we would need or want in our van, but after staying on a very dusty site and also next to the beach on a very windy day, it is something that we are now considering. There was dust literally everywhere and even after wiping benches you could hear the grit under the glass as it was put down on the bench. As we plan to travel north, we expect plenty more dust. Do you travel with a vacumn cleaner for the floor, crevices, window sills and into corners etc, if so what type/ brand etc. Or are we just being a bit precious with a new van...lol
Got a Hoover. But if I was starting from scratch probably buy the 18v Ryobi stuff from Bunnings. Have a drill for winding the van legs up and down, chainsaw for small firewood, and would get the whipper snipper too.
I have a bagless vac by Black & Decker - cost about $100 - good suck - comes with two nozzles (1 nozzle doubles as a brush - the other is the crevice one. Comes with long lead and plugs into cigarette lighter type fittings. Had it a couple of years, still good, and it has sucked up some dust and sand in that time.
Friend has one as well - we would both recommend the Black & Decker.

Had a Dyson DC35, cordless. Magic but expensive or so I thought. Needed a new battery after about five years. Replaced at $70. But and a big but it came with what is basically a new motor section as well.
So what I thought was expensive is now good for another four or five years. I did buy the accessories pack which made it more versatile around the MotorHome.
We no longer travel but when we did full time we always carried a vac, nothing worse than dusty gritty grimy corners, we eventually went up to a Dyson Animal DC65 as we had a dog on board, great at removing pet hair.
We considered a Dyson battery model but was worried re battery failure but reading the above comment may now invest in one for the home.
We have a Dyson hand held but when it come time to replace the battery, Dyson didn't supply them any more for that model - too old. But was lucky that Battery World were selling the aftermarket battery for that model still. At a whopping $100.00, but much cheaper than replacing the Dyson. Hope this battery lasts a while now.
Agree with all the above Dyson comments. We had one for years and years, just replaced here in Australia and found it a bit more expensive but worth the money long term as they do last for years. The Animal is a must for dog hairs!
