perth to kakadu

Hi Newbie here

After some general info  im thinking of doing Perth to Kakadu and return

I have a Hilux 2.7 workmate UTE petrol i have put on dual battery and have a Canvas cover over the tray

Want to do Kakadu and points in between at some stage but due to commitments not sure when in the next couple of years

Alas a bit hard to determin what way to go

am thinking of a New Jayco Camper or small Van  would like 4x4 but dont think budget will stretch to both

Am thinking of Inland route from Perth via Paynes find Meekatharra nulagine marble bar   on to Derby then

up Northern Highway to Darwin n Kakadu im a fishing nut so want to try for Barra somewhere along the way but no 4x4

come back via coast pt hedland ,Exmouth ETC

Just after something easy to tow put up ETC

Can anyone enlighten me as to poss ways to go  a bit of a minefield with info out there

Manty thanks in advance

Brimhunter

Sounds like a great trip Brimhunter,

I would do a lot of homework with regard to petrol availability on any "in land shortcuts" through western and central Australia as many areas do not cater for petrol vehicles.
You may benifit with a long range tank in that situation if petrol is going to be a problem in those areas.
I have not been across there so can not help you with accurate information

Enjoy your journey.

Hi Brimhunter,
That sounds like a good plan. The best thing would be to get the latest Camps Book (camps 10 I think). That gives you all the information you need to plan your trip and will be right up to date on road conditions etc. If you have a smart phone, get the Wikicamps app as well. That way you can plan it all ahead.
