I was just surfing the G.N web site and I opted to open the Lifestyle and then open Grey Nomad Characters.
Upon checking the articles listed I noted that we would have to be the Grand Parents of all Grand Parents as we are
Jay...79 years
Dee...75 years.
But apart from a couple of health issues and some added aches and pains, we can match it with the younger brigade. Well that is our view.
Must admit that theses hot summer days sees us enjoy home base. We are still waiting for some genius to invent a look a like Air Conditioner along the lines of the diesel heater concept. We will be the first to buy.
I would like to think that we have many more years of RV lifestyle before we "retire""
Our tip... Get out there and enjoy our great land and all it has to offer.
Well done on still travelling at your age - just reached 70 last October andfeel that I still have many, many years travel ahead.
We do have a couple of older members - Yeoeleven (who doesn't post much these days) is 81, and still having a ball, travelling only part time now, spends a lot of time at Wuruma Dam in Queensland, catching redclaw, fish and this year a rabbit!!!
We have an airconditioner in the motorhome, but it is so noisy, drowns out the radio. We use fans.

Met an elderly couple 20 odd years ago at the Ceduna Caravan Park. They had a 1960's Holden and an old Millard. Over a red or two at happy hour we got talking and she asked how old I thought they were. I thought they were in their late 60's. She laughed at that, telling me that they had run away from home when they turned 70 and had not been back, and that was over ten years ago. She said they would travel to a C/P pull up for a week or so and wait for the pension cheque to catch up and then they would hit the road again. Done the lap 3 times.
She looked me in the eye and said "Sonny, if we hadn't hit the road we would be dead by now. We look forward to each day and a new adventure seeing new things and meeting new people, don't go back to work son, just keep travelling!"
So Jay & Dee there is no age bracket, just keep on going and enjoy this great country.

Hendo
What a great attitude that is.
I have only just started to feed the travel bug but I could see myself doing something like that. Not sure the wife would agree though.
" Don't go back to work son, just keep travelling " Gotta Love it!
There's an old bloke (85) and his Missus around same age (Wheel chair) Travels every year from Melbourne to Longreach (River Camp) - Home made van with Dexion frame and a pot belly stove installed. Painted with a hand brush, pulled by old Holden - Enjoying life. Interesting fact his"elder brother was the last surviving member of "Light Horse Bethsheba charge. You won't miss his van has a chimney stack on left hand wall. Bent similar to an old Gipsy wagon.

We have an Ac in our van late 2015. Haven't had to use it as we travel in the cooler months. The first thing I did was install the diesel heater myself, What a great piece of kit it is to.
We wouldn't leave home without one.
Now for those who don't have an AC but can find the room in the back of your tug, Try a portable unit I am using the one ( an Altise, about 460mm x 460mm x 900-1000mm high ), that I got for my Stepmother, right now as our old split system gave up the ghost. The replacement, go's in on Wednesday (A men).
If you can get hold of a mozzi net and soak it in ice water the hang it in front of you, turn on a pedesal fan from the Big Green Shed so it blows through the net. This will lower your body temps some what. I have 2 IV drips that I washed out and fill them with iced water. Hang them along with the net and as it drips down the mesh it will cool you right down. Leave your windows open or you will end up very humid indeed.
Now if you really want to get Dirty, strip down to your undies Or Less and give each other a wipe with a kitchen spong in front of a fan.
This method is shaw to bring back lots of #&%@***&% Memories. Like when you were Sixteen or there abouts.
Your Never to Old Or to Young. Now are you feeling any better. Life is worth living to the full.
I don't consider 70s to be old. I am nearly through those my self. My goal is to match Pat and Arthur Pullin. I met them at a NACC national rally where Pat celebrated her 98th birthday. They did not have a walking stick or other walking aids. They were so confident that they booked into the next national rally 3 years later. They did not make it as Arthur had an infected leg. They did tow to club rallies for another year or so.

Yes, I miss him on the forum as well brickies - but I get to talk to him often, and meet up with him a couple of times a year. He is well, still doing his own thing, even talked about buying a new motorhome a little while back - didn't eventuate though.
