Please accept that I understand you have a difficult job, but please consider perhaps it would be agreeable there is a majority and not a minority posting on this forum. I find it offensive that, as a Majority, I have to suffer closures of posts due to minority elements. I understand the issues associated with Australia Day and the so called Invasion Day, but realistically, why are the issues on this Forum? Perhaps it would be better to ban all posters on either side of the fence from the site!
That tactic would pull everyone into the moderators line of thinking and allow harmonious happy thoughts which would lead to denigrating the choice of other peoples choices!
It was Australia Day and will always be Australia Day, I would hate to think what would have happened if the Dutch got the right coast line given their history around the world!
So Moderator, can you please give a more in depth explanation as to why the two posts were closed? I believe I am due a plausible and in depth explanation as all my posts have been innocent and non offensive. I am sure others would be happy to hear your views. Unfortunately, your previous explanation lacked some basic fundamentals apart from some form of comments etc!
Awaiting your comments with reference to removed posts as it is relevant to this conversation. If you do not wish to answer this post, just take the moderators option and close it!
I have to support the above comments. We appear to be PC manic. I realise that the job of Moderator is not easy sometimes and judgments have to be made but let them be sound judgments and, at the very least, post a full explanation of why the post was closed this would at least give some clarity to the poster and the readers.

We all agree that moderation is both difficult and necessary. Sometimes all we need is a timely explanation for a thread closure to avoid wondering and frustration, particularly concerning (what began as) a perfectly uplifting and benign thread.

As Cindy as the Webmaster felt that posts had got personal in their nature, it is reasonable for her to delete the posts, and close the thread to stop it degenerating further. I felt she made that clear with her post on the closed thread.
Rather than criticising the Webmaster, it would be better criticising those who feel the need to start name calling, baiting others or making personal attacks as the only way to get their point of view across. It is those people who spoil the discussion and need to be controlled.
And it is not right to expect Cindy to be on the site 24 hours a day to control those who can't control themselves. In short, the lowest common denominator will always control the discussion, as they neither care about being civil making their point, or the fact that they may get the thread closed, as long as they push their viewpoint.
Too often we see threads being used to "bully" people with differing points of views.
Remember, Cindy wouldn't have to delete or close anything if people could show a little bit of respect for others point of view, and keep arguments non personal.

Chaos, mayhem, confusion. Good my job here is done
But in the first don't start treads that Cindy has pointed out in her rules not to be posted , Some start these posts to cause a stir they just want a fight .
Most of us have an inbuilt moral compass and know instinctively what will offend, others of course know full well what they are saying will cause offense, their intention is to upset, and disrupt, simply so they can pretend to be outraged and offended when the thread is closed.
Moderation of this site is more than tolerant, stop posting controversial rubbish and you won't have a reason to whinge.

I'm surprised Cindy even offers an explanation for deletions and closures, most forums the offending post/thread disappears without trace, requests for enlightenment will go unanswered.
You know when you've crossed the line, if your unsure, easy, don't post it.

On the other forums that we participate in, the poster of the offending material disappears without trace too.
Morning DD, your spot on, usually an enforced holiday from the forum for a week or two, on return a repeat offense will bring the curtain down permanently, no chance to say goodbye.
Perhaps banning a few of the repeat offenders would be a wake up call.

On the main forum that we're on (almost 9 years) you don't get any chances, one strike & you're out for good.

the G+L LOBBY got their way so which minority cause will we crusade for next the silent majority must remain silent
might get a warning for that comment
Hi everybody. Thanks for your input on this. The original post was closed because some of the comments had become political and the string had descended into personal attacks. I removed these comments because they were against forum rules. I then closed the thread to prevent further acrimony. Unfortunately, experience has taught me that discussions of politics and religion inevitably end the same way. I understand that many of you have strong views on any number of political issues and I completely understand that you may wish to debate and discuss them. I just want to make it absolutely clear however that this is not the forum for those debates for the reasons previously outlined. This is primarily a forum where grey nomads or wannabe grey nomads who share a common interest can come together and share stories, advice and experiences about travelling around Auastralia in a friendly and constructive way. There are various sections to suit discussions of various specific interests and an ‘I digress’ section for more general conversations. However, politics and religion are – and will always remain – off topic on all sections of this forum. Thanks all for your understanding. If anyone has any further questions around this, please send me a private message ad I will happily explain the policy further.
