I bought two Five position Coleman Camping chairs from a well known retailer. Three years ago so out of warranty. I Hardly used them so in very good condition.
One of the Plastic arms broke at the point where a bolt held it to the seat. The pivot point. I tried to get a replacement arm from Coleman Australia. I was told they would replace the whole chair if it was still under warranty. Not supply a spare arm. I wasn't happy as the chair was out of warranty so it's now useless. I was told they do not import spare parts. I contacted Coleman USA and they told me that Coleman Australia do not get spares for their goods. Just replace the whole item under warranty.
In retrospect with my chair it was a design flaw and the new version has changed to a steel arm.
Not a happy camper.
My reason for posting this is another post re a Coleman gas Regulator in someone else's Post. I hope they can get a replacement if the email from Coleman is correct I would be worried.
Can you describe the model chair? I have two of the green/burgundy striped recliner chairs which are hard to open... especially because one has been repaired at the hinge. I'm not sure what to replace them with...
I also stopped buying Coleman chairs as the warranty used to be 5 years, then dropped to 3, so even they don't have confidence in their own product !
You used to be able to buy replacement arms for the chairs not sure if still so, my last pair of Coleman folding aluminium chairs with side table (think they're called directors chair) the blue fabric disintegrated after 18 months so I was offered a replacement from where I bought them but I refused and paid a little extra for a different manufacturer of a similar chair which we still have and use now almost 4 years later ! the supplier told me they had had heaps of returns of faulty ones of both styles of chair.
Coleman IMO have gone to the dogs quality wise.

We purchased 2 of the newer ones with the metal arms but the fabric seats tore at the seams (no - I'm not 180kg....80kg actually!!) and Coleman said take them back and exchange for new ones. Did that and the shop was happy to give a credit on cost and we bought different brand, Dune I think which were more comfortable, lighter and cheaper.
thanks for the heads up, won't be buying coleman if they have this sort of attitude to customers and their stuff ain't cheap.
What is it with American companies. We heard about the car maker jeep treating customers badly, here is another American company doing the same.Is it just American companies screwing Aussie consumers? I'm sure this sort of **** would not fly with American consumers.
I'm sure headquarters in the USA would not be happy if their distributor was doing shifties with consumers here.
Jeep has lost more than 50% off their yearly motor sales in the past few years. Some one must have noticed(in the USA) that Jeep is poison in consumer minds.I personally will never buy a Jeep with all the bad press over their reliability and bad dealer behavior.
I'm sure coleman in the usa would not want the same to happen to them.

p.s Do companies get so big that they just don't give a rats after a while.
They're owned by "Newell Brands" which also owns many many familiar brands of just about anything. Basically I think they are a corporation that places more faith in their share price than the products they sell.
