I've got my road atlas and Camps book out but many heads are better than one. Well mine anyway!
I'd be interested in your opinions on a route from Tenterfield to Horsham, please?
We will have travelled a bit of a zig zag route from Victoria to get to Tenterfield Via Nug Nug, Corryong, Tumbarumba, Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Tullibigeal, Lake Cargellico, Fifield, Gularagambone, Quirindi then onto Tamworth, Armidale, Tenterfield etc.
We do like the roads less travelled, preferably sealed.
Sounds great with a good variety of country to see. New England Tablelands are lovely. Frog Hollow & Dead Man's Point on Lake Cargelligo are nice free camps.
We stay away from major highways as much as possible too as long as the minor roads are sealed.
We've recently come back from a 5 week trip in NE Victoria around Corryong. Lots of free camps on the Murray. https://parkweb.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/315895/Park-note-Upper-Murray-Parks.pdf
Tumbarumba Shire run a great free camp on the Murray at Towong.
Nug Nug is one of our favorite spots.
Safe trip, enjoy!

Weve been to the Man from Snowy River festival in Corryong and visited friends in the beautiful Nariel Valley but thats it so far, looking forward to exploring more of the area.
The area known as The Golden Triangle is a fascinating place to visit - lots of small camps, and some reasonably priced caravan parks. Takes in Bendigo and Ballarat, but there are hundreds of little towns - one far to the west is on the Sunraysia Highway - Avoca, one of the most GN friendly towns around - two free camps, one overnighter ( no amenities) and right across the road next to the bridge - a 72hr one, toilets, bbq, rotunda, rubbish bins and two water taps. Walk to a very friendly town. Dump point opposite the caravan park, always clean, always a hose. Great caravan park as well - think it is only $25, lots of grass, could walk into town from there.

I am grateful for the suggestions of camps, thank you and i am a happy regular user of Wiki camps, I was just after suggestions of a return route from Tenterfield to Horsham. Just wanted a different route than we've previously taken. I actually enjoy the research and planning strangly enough, you find so many new places that way. So again thank you for your time and suggestions.
This sounds like a great trip to make. I think I will also have to look at making a plan.
So great to read where others have been or are going.
Thanks to all fellow travellers, you must be enjoying life leading by example!!

We've done all of your planned route at various stages, you'll love it.
Another couple of good spots on the water that we've stayed at are Gum Bend Lake near Condobolin NSW & Green Hill Lake near Ararat VIC.

I guess it depends on how much of a hurry you are in? Straight down the New England would be your simplest & fastest option. You could take B64 from West Wylong through Gilgowi, Hay then down to Deniliquin, there are some nice spots on the Edward river.
