Fellas,
Forgive my ignorance but why do people use a car stand or similar to prop the hitch when you have perfectly working legs on each corner of the van?

Hi Larry, those legs are not capable of supporting the draw bar load. They are simply stabilising legs.

Wind down legs are steadys only, not supports. At home I use a stand under the A frame & remove the jockey wheel. Hopefully a deterent to the unprepared thief. The professionals would prpbably carry a jockey wheel & battery grinder. I recently saw a yacht in a front yard, & the owner removed the coupling from the trailer. Cheers Pete

I use axle stands to level the van, in combo with the jockey stand, then lower the stabilizers. I carry the axle stands around for servicing the wheel bearings.
