My first thought is perhaps we take the battery out of a remote, or just use the key for entry...

One of my vehicles has keyless entry and keyless start. Removing and replacing the batteries from remotes just to use it would be onerous and tbh I miss the convenience of my other vehicles.
Years ago, Prius forums were full of stories relating to the effects of fob proximity to both locked and unlocked vehicles. I suspect Toyota tamed it by decreasing fob range.
We can do little but hope manufacturers deal with the issue as they have with all vehicle security issues (or better).
I have had instances where my remote had locked other cars and other remotes have locked my cars but have never been able to open other than the vehicle is set too.
Back in '96 there was a Pajero (High Top) same colour as mine parked next to mine (At a winery in SA) - I opened it got in and realised that someone had changed the colour of wool seat covers - I was on a Bush Safari at the time, and even though a non-drinker the child bride dobbed me in to the Morning Muster next day, and I Had to wear a silly hat for the Day - (multi coloured Jester cap with bells on). There were only ever a few old Hi-top Pajero's in Oz but I found the one that had matching keys.

I opened a green HR Holden one night with my white Hillman Hunter keys after Id been on the turps. My wife asked me if I was OK to drive when the key would not start the car. After I said yes she told me what I had just done. I handed over they keys.
Then my dad unlocked and got into his car one day only to find an old lady sitting in the passenger seat. After a bit of a chat, turned out she was supposed to be in exactly the same car parked behind. Her key had opened dads car door.
Speaking of roller garage doors, mine mysteriously used to open and close quite regularly, then a year or so ago it suddenly stopped and hasnt done so since...I guess the owners must have replaced their door?!
