It almost seems a daily event  - Mitsubishi this time,  with the affected vehicles sold between the 28th of December 2014 and the 6th February 2017.

Loss of power

The ACCCs recall notice states that the issue of concern regards the power relays in the vehicles, which may generate excessive heat, resulting in relay failure.

As a result, the engine may stall during driving, fail to restart or failsafe protection may be activated, with a loss of engine power, the notice goes on to say.

The biggest hazard resulting from this defect is that an unexpected loss of engine power may result in an accident.

Replacement parts required

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Mitsubishi Motors Australia by mail when parts become available, advising them to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer to replace the affected relays.

This comes after a separate recall earlier this month affected over 83,000 Nissan vehicles.
