TV amp all ok and doing what it should Tony, thanks. Really doing my head in is this wiring. confuse

I have completely removed Setec from system.

Pump will run without using any wires that were connected to Setec.

Not all earth wiring is connected to each other. All earth pins on Setec are common.

I connected all earth wires together.

Turned on all lights, shower fan, TV circuit including amplifier but no TV connected as faulty at the moment.

Using amp meter in series I found what each wire does and its current draw, except for pump!!

Then connected all positive wiring together to find total current except for TV & pump.

Found that when I added my direct from battery earth lead to the Jayco earth leads the lights etc lit up brighter.furious

Next I had to stop work and attend the funeral of one of Eril's Aunties. So, hope I can remember what I need to remember tomorrow. I have been writing everything down to try and come to grips as to how Jayco do their DC wiring. At least their 240 is plug & play stuff!!

A lot of wasted space under the fridge where the wiring attaches to Setec. I am wondering about a set of fuses on mounting block and sell the Setec.

New charger comments please...

Our 40 amp 240 to 12v charger has carked it. This charger is used whenever the genset is running or when (rarely) we are connected to power.

Considering these two. Quite different in weight though, and one 50 amp.

Hi Paul, did you consider a 3 stage solid state charger?

Much lighter.

Won't run so hot.

Perhaps a better charge cycle.

Might have different charge cycles depending on type of battery to be charged.

Cost more though.

Thanks John, yes I have, but thinking as this charger is only used to top up battery when not driving and using genset for coffee or microwave it might be more suitable and cheaper for this tightwad. biggrin

At the moment we have 320w roof solar, and a 120w portable.

I finally got a chance to look at the fixed video camera footage that I ran during the day. It was occaisionally showing OCP and switched off from charging. This appeared to happen when the amps went to 25. As this is only a 15 amp controller it could be part of my overall DC circuit problems.

Sometimes I feel the need to pinch myself!!!biggrin

Hence my thread re controllers.

Im pretty sure this one you are looking at is not voltage regulated. And you would need to keep an eye on the voltage when charging.

Today the Kogan tv turned up. Gone from 22" to 24", much lighter, physically smaller and almost half the power usage. smile

Still waiting for fuse block etc to arrive to rewire the DC circuit without the fairly heavy Setec.

Success at last but still a lot of tidying up of wiring to finish. Fuse block turned up so gradually making progress. A couple of 30 degree days here and not good for my burns and grafted skin BUT with the aircon running I can achieve some jobs in the van. biggrin

Anyone want to buy a Setec charger?

Found the elusive current draw in the TV circuit!!!! The VAST box does not have an off/on switch!!!!no Only on / and standby!!! At least I tidied up some rough soldering and connections while chasing the fault. I will have to have a separate switch for the VAST box.
