Two homes were lost to bushfires on rural properties near Comboyne, west of Port Macquarie, in yesterday's hot, windy weather.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) crews responded to more than 50 call-outs on the lower mid-north coast alone.
The fire took a run under the strong westerly winds. The terrain and the significant heat just drove that fire. It was impossible to contain.
"We had aircraft working on it, just over 100 firefighters and 30 units.
"Firefighters are still working to bring a series of bushfires under control."
Today's forecast is for another day of severe fire danger along the NSW north coast.
