just be careful that it doesn't get overwritten if you go in for a manufacturers service. I know when i had my Triton it was an issue, the manufacturer ecu updates overwrote the remap and lost the lot.A chip might be an option.
Get it remapped for YOUR application. Towing.Economy.Performance etc.
AND.......
Make sure he gives you a disc\chip with that update remap on it.
Cause everytime you go in for agents\dealers service.
They read the Computer. which Normally?
resets mapping back to original.
ReMapping IS the best way.
But if you can't get a copy. or guarantee that he'll remap, if it reset on you.
I'd be thinking about a decent "chip" Plug in, and simple to insert emove.
Not as good. But More convenient if doing factory servicing.

Quite happy with them.
BUT not as Efficient or overall control with them.
Just cheaper.
I have mine set. With 85% of pulling power\Torque.
in first 1\3rd of throttle movement..
Never go near top of throttle range. Easy driver. Patient.
Very economical.
Also flush fuel system every 10k with injector cleaners.

The issue with just doing chipping is that it changes air and fuel mix usually as a one off change, which is consistant right across the rev range. A remap does the same but takes into account throttle position, air temp etc and adjusts the mix right through the rev rang and also according to conditions. A remap once done cannot be switched off or removed by owner wheras a chip can be plugged in or taken out to bring the car back to EOM specs. ROO systems are more expensive than others, and I have never heard any problems with them, especially on later cars. If you tell the dealer you have had a remap, then they should not do things to effect the remap. It does not matter for warranty claims if you have done a remap as long as the warranty problem is not associated with the fuel/air system. Then you might have issues. I have a remap on my 76. I remind the dealer when i take it for a service that it has one. I have clearly marked the warranty booklet and the service booklet with the number of Roo systems in case they do any upgrades. It certainly made the beast have more get up and go as the motor in stock form is way down in power output when compared to the same motor in the 200, which has. twin turbo's. I have considered doing to my Discovery but as it has heaps of power now the cost to get the best gains requires a exhaust and chip upgrade which is not worth the outlay for the gains made. Also you really need to do you homework, as often the before and after results of a print out are not done under the same conditions, Just make sure they are so the comparison is real and accurate. Also dont believe the hype that you get better fuel economy. What you do once you get it done is use the power you never had before, and just lived with it. The right boot is your worst enemy

Remapping is cheaper, more reliable and IMO much better than any piggy back chip, had my last tow vehicle, a small Isuzu NPR truck done and the performance difference was amazing.
There is no worry about it being overwritten so long as you tell the dealer not to put it on the computer, they charge you bigtime anyway, well Isuzu did, it used to cost me $200 to have it plugged in when I had my dealer services done before my ECU remap !
Dealers aren't stupid and they know what goes on, but they still want your business so will happily comply to your wishes, otherwise just take it somewhere else that isn't bothered about ECU updates etc.
Another thing to do FIRST.
Is Tuned exhaust. Snorkel,
Plus Catch Can EGR Diversion from Rocker cover.
Cleans the air in system and cools it, b4 it gets there.
Also Exhaust extracts the hot gasses quicker.
Just make sure, if it a 3 in tube.
That they add a reducer pipe\section of around 2 3\4 in,
In the line to keep some back pressure.
Some just change the front end from Turbo.
Leaving back half alone. Depending on Veh.
Quite often a man finds that he doesn't REALLY need the other.
Unless heavy foot. Big load. or lotsa hills.
