NSW weather: Record-breaking 40-degree temperature expected this weekend,
Sydney will reach the mid 30s, but out in the north-west they might hit 40C.
New South Wales has never had a 40-degree day in September and that may be about to change this weekend as temperatures soar around the state.
The highest we've recorded anywhere in NSW in September is 39.6 [degrees Celsius] and there's a few places out in the far west, including Wanaaring and Wilcannia, that are a chance of getting 40C on Saturday.
Temperatures in Sydney's west are expected to reach the mid-30s during Saturday and the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) said to expect total fire bans across Sydney and through the Hunter Valley on Sunday.
Take care out there People, report any smoke sightings straight away. !!!

There is a major potential for bush fires all around the state and as an experienced bush fire fighter of 40 years I dont believe there will be any safe in the bush camp sights this weekend and wherever you are stay safe and have a great weekend.

Hi there aussietraveller, I may not have as many years Fire Service to my credit as yourself but, having been on the fire front many times, it does give you a very real and frightening experience of what a fast moving fire is capable of.
I think the first time I felt the blast of radiated heat, and the hopeless feeling when confronted with a 3m wall of flame bearing down on me was a real wake-up call,
Many a time I've said to myself. " What the hell am I doing here" while standing there holding a 25mm hose and wondering how much water is left in the tank.
I've been out of the Brigade many years now but, I still wake at nights with vivid memories of houses being lost in fires, especially when the local fire station turns out, as I live only a KM away and the road goes straight past our front door.
God bless and protect the Firies, without them, Aussie would be doomed.
