If the phone doesn't have a GPS system, then it will never work, not all phones have the system. If the phone has a GPS, you may need to activate it, in the system menu.

What brand and model is the phone?

I've heard about this wikicamp, l've travelled about NZ with Campermate and found it excellent. You can download it and use it offline. Is wikicamp worth having as well?

Yes. Definitely. Treat user comments the same as you would on any other forum though. Opinions about individual sites are subjective and sometimes conflicting, but they're generally useful as a guide. You can also filter the type of sites you want (e.g. pet friendly).

Wikicamps is an excellent app - get lots of info from other campers, some pics of the place - though a lot of people take pics of their set ups, and not the site, which is what we want to see - how much room, level, whatever. I use it often, as well as the Camps Australia Wide book.

Just watch the co-ordinates - found a few of them not put in properly, took us about 12k out of the way.

Maybe something needs to be activated.
I have a little symbol that shows at the top of my phone.
Whenever I'm on wikicamps, which I use frequently, it take me straight to where I am etc.
Check if it's all activated. If you are on facebook there is a Wikicamps Users page where others more knowledgeable than me will have the answer to your problem.

Tough. Someone else DID ask if it was worthwhile and may value that feedback.

Manners, terrola, manners - you need to learn some.

I wonder if you are an overseas tourist here - your cumbersome English suggests you may be - if that is the case then I suggest you study the basic social interaction of Australians a lot more carefully than seems to be the case.

Why do you think that Mike. He's been a member on here since 2012. Only 43 comments in 5 years.

Some people sure get picky round here.

it's only Natural to make comments on a subject if you asked a question on it and have any opinions of\on it too.

Unless you a zombie of course.

It did have one good section too.

ANY chance of something similar here BOSS LADY?????.
Or too complex??.

Hi Terrola,

Do you get any messages on the screen when you try and use the satellite finder? I have a Samsung tablet with GPS but no compass and if I activate the satt finder I get a message saying "This feature will not work because your device does not appear to have a compass in it", but if I tap Location and position my location on the map (blue dot) under the pin it will display the azimuth, elevation and LNB skew for that location, so at least it provides the information required to point the dish at the satellite. My phone has both GPS and a compass and the satt finder works fine on that, so it appears it needs both of them to work.

Joe

terrola My Android wikicamps has a compass function. Most mapping apps do too. Wikicamps app has a link to their user forum. Questions on using the sat tracking are common. Maybe look there ?

There are several satellites out there but the Optus satellites C1 and D3 are side by side out there is space. If you are after the TV Foxtel satellite it is Optus D3 @ 156 degrees E. My suggestion would be to google exactly which satellite you are wanting to access. The co-ordinates are listed to assist the public on how to gain access.

Cheers,

Robyn

With some of the INANE comments made by some on this forum it may be better if they went back to the other forum where you suggested they may have come from
