SE QLD ocean view free / low cost camp sites.

We have a 23 ft caravan and are looking at spending a couple of week in early October some where along the coast in the S.E. reqin of Qld.

Any advice would be appreciated.

We can afford C.Parks, but dislike the sardine type accommodation.

Thanks

Jay&Dee

Methinks you are correct after scanning the entire area recently. Texas on the river is probably about it. Most places we looked at or have stayed at were small sites but parks weren't full. What about Jacobs Well?

Perhaps look at some fo the Showgrounds camping around Brisbane, I can recommend Samford Showgrounds. Very quiet and peaceful, pick a spot to camp  powered or unpowered without the sardines feeling. Last visit was $20 pn powered for 2, max stay 7 days.

School holidays start this friday. Any parks on the coast will be premium prices. I don't think there would be many parks left in south east Qld with ocean views. Cheers Pete

There is one place I would suggest if you're self contained, It is a farm stay in Ayre and is well worth your while., The cost is minimal and the hospitality is fabulous.  Power and water are supplied and the family are wonderful and will take you around the BURDEKIN Aqua water ways.  Just mention my name Gwynnie @ mitldatraveller as they will remember me,  I took a jockey wheel for Greg onto his brother-in-law in Cairns. Pass on my regards.    I was travelling solo in a Motorhome at the time with 'Waltzing Matilda' written on the back.  Safe travels.  Gwynnie  floating.gif

If you want one where you can see the ocean then try Ocean View Tourist Park at Landsborough. It's actually part way up the hill to Maleny. Ask them for the site that has that view, it's at the bottom end of the park and has an elevated timber deck beside the van. With the fall land at that point the deck becomes the awning pad at normal pad height.

Rates are reasonable and the sites are not too small in the park. We had an enjoyable week there.

There's a couple of CPs on the Esplanade in Hervey Bay also. Right on the beach.

I did not read things that way

We can afford C.Parks, but dislike the sardine type accommodation.

That to me meant that caravan parks with big sites were acceptable.

So again we have a confusing heading. I generally take more notice of what is in the OP than the heading.

A suggestion ...   Yes I'll give you that.  But did it meet the criteria ????

I prefer one of the waterfront sites at Tallebudgera .... site 24 or thereabouts from memory.  Enough space to erect the gazebo in front of the van & drag the kayak to the water & catch small fish consistently.

Cheap NO     Sardines ... not really.   Views DEFINATELY.

Have a nice day youall   ... Bloody cold here in Oakey & no water views either.
