Motorhome versus Caravanning throughout Australia.

Hi

We are considering getting a Motorhome sometime in the future and would like opinions from people travelling already. We have been Caravanning for a few months each year now for about 7 years. We have thoroughly enjoyed the caravanning, we would like to spend a lot more time on the road, just touring all over. We are interested in the opinion of travellers in motorhomes as in are the Caravan Parks and service Stations easy to get into, some can be a bit tight in a van so Im a little concerned about a Motorhome. We will be looking at Motorhomes of 30 to 35 ft and tow a little Suzuki.  They look fantastic with a lot of room and lots of creature comforts, but what are the Pros and Cons of going from caravan to Motorhome.

Cheers

Perry

We have a 8m Explorer . Don't have issues fueling etc . One thing we found was free camping was much safer . Although requires MH licence.

It could be well worth hiring a motor home for a month or two to give it a try, nothing like practical experience to see if you really like travelling this way. I suspect you may not be able to hire one as big as you are talking about but worth considering.

I THINK some places like the caravan / motorhome sales yard in Penrith let you lease / buy ? A lot depends on what you purchase ? It's not intirely a van v motorhome ., I always get asked .. Dont you have trouble parking or packing up When you want to go somewhere ? Well 99% of the time we only have the awning out . Takes 2 min max to put that away . When we had a van . The security was always an issue leaving it behind and putting things away was also an issue . In one case we came back to smashed window . Keep in mind this could also happpen to motorhome ., Buy big enough for comfort but not that big it's a pain to park . I note 8.5m is about the length for most camping grounds. Without specific big rig parking . When looking at motorhome or converted bus?? I was considering going big as in real big converted bus . Ok it has its issues ., But then you make up big time with comfort!! Storage for bike etc if wanted ?? There's so many options .. Seems more our limits restricting options ?? Lol
