I've just insured our caravan for the first time after I bought it a year ago second hand.
So it sat in our property uninsured for a year whilst I modified it to suit our needs.
I tried most of the large insurers and had quotes as high as $1800 down to $570.
I found Ken Tame too difficult as he wanted an independent valuation even though I had an agreed value I wanted insurance for.
Be careful of the insurance companies who claim to be on the pensioners side too, they were the dearest.
Some traps I was told about were some companies only insure your van as long as it's on the black top. If your parked beside the road on the dirt and a truck cleans you up your uninsured.
One insurance company told me about this, however I didn't see that on any PDS's I read.
The winner by far with a great PDS and great price was QBE.
Just went with NRMA, 1st time in years they have been the best, by around $120 for us at $53k agreed. Still too much, but what do you do. Couldn't live with ourselves if a worst case thing. cheers Craig
Hi kurt, a lot better than telstra or Centrelink, I think they have a call back option though. Savings to me were better money waiting than I ever was paid for working. cheers Craig
GIO just sent me my annual CTP Green Sip notice for the tug $583.13 Yet I went on Govt comparison site and GIO quoted $514.53 -So if I didn't check/compare I would have been slugged $69.00 extra - More than cheeky it's Ned Kelly antics.
