We're not telling otherwise they'll lose their serenity because everyone & his dog will know about them.
Our best advise is to buy the Wikicamps app & look in the comments section for each spot. If a spot has lots of comments it's very popular & therefore a good place to stay away from.
Luckily some of our favourite spots aren't on it.
Another good recourse is to look in the VIC section of the camping locations section of this forum. Enjoy.

Check out a lake 20km or so east of Donald, lake Albacutya western beach boat ramp near Rainbow, plenty around the Grampians, the high country but unlike up north Victoria have few near/in towns. Eg Nug Nug is a beauty but 15km from Myrtleford. Poowong has one, same deal, murray river there are many but far from shops.

Smythesdale in Victoria is a great camp, on the Glenelg Highway, I think, free hot shower, fresh drinking water - got to ring a number on the back of the small brick shed, will give you a number for the shower.
Lots of spots on the Murray - some with facilities, some not. Lake Benanee, near Euston, Mannum, SA, Crystal Brook, SA, Burra - lovely little town (showground is about $15) - do you have a Camps Australia Wide book? CAmpers bible, or Wikicamps on tablet or phone.
Dartmoor another nice spot. Mount Gambier - Little Blue Lake - nothing there, but free.
I don't mind sharing my info - I nearly always hear about them from others, and if it is a problem with backpackers (which I do know about) - why don't these people talk to them, and tell them about cleanliness and noise - easy really, most of them speak and understand a bit of English.
Check out the Free/budget camps sub forum on here - lots of good info there. Hope to see you, where are you headed?

Green Hill Lake Ararat (donation) but all facilities. Dogs on leash area and dogs off leash area. Lake Lascelles at Hopetoun (East Side). Jingellic. Deep Lake at Derrinallum. Zanettis Beach (near Yarrawonga). Heaps along the Murray if you are self sufficient. Wikicamps is my best friend.
