I have received a renewal for my tugs comprehensive insurance, the value of the pajero has been lowered by $4500 and the premium has gone up by $138.45 even though I have a maximum no claim bonus with the GIO,
I have now switched to QBE who offer the same general level of benifits as GIO but they are giving me cover at $5600 for the tug more than the GIO, and their premium is $140.00 cheaper. It pays to check each year what the various insurance companies are offering, but you also need to be sure that you compare what they are actually covering in the policy like for like.
Tax + Tax I noticed that the break up of the policy cost shows that I am paying two lots of government tax on the one policy first is State stamp duty and then Federal GST which then makes it a tax on a tax which I believe is morally wrong.
I wonder how many other examples there are of this rip off by governments.

Happily doing both to the Max.
Life is like a camera, focus on what's important & you will capture it every Time
ALL vehicles I've ever owned.
I'd insured them "Agreed Value".
The company don't do it. Go elsewhere.
You can always get it.
I've made 2 claims over 50 yrs.
Both paid up. the FULL agreed value.
Though one wasn't going to till I showed assessor ep.
The paperwork.
Cost's more. and usually an engineers report.Photo's.
for the first one.
But worth it if you need it.
What's the point of paying all that money over the yrs.
If you only going to get a pittance if something does happen.
They going to cost the average bloke a zillion anyway.
We never claim in general.
From experience and comments from industry insiders, the first year is usually cheaper to attract new business, then they treat you like sh**.
Spot on.
Every year they jack up the price and devalue the vehicle. It's the lazy tax. I phone them every year and insist the price go down or I'm moving to another company.
The other trick is let it runout then log onto their web site as a new customer.
Agreed Val.
THEY ring me every yr to Argue the toss about any reduction in values.
Normally end up in middle of the 2 prices.
Power.
ERGON only up here.
THEY still paying us $650ish a yr. Solar.
Hot water free. No gas.
So we still sweet hey.
Anybody nowadays with no solar has rocks in their heads.
even just the 2 kw helps a lot.
My 4.2kw runs house. pool and gives returns.
Runs complete house fridges and air cond. with pool pump.
if sun shining.
Nothing coming in from grid through meter.
Run everything load bearing at night.
44c p KW Us to grid. from gov.
Costs us. 19.3c from grid in.) Good till '28 so far.
When I bought my GU Patrol, I asked the insurance company (RACQ) what the market value of it was - they said $32,500. As I had just paid $33,000 for it, I asked if they would do an agreed value for that amount. They agreed.
Last week when I approached them after having the GVM increased, they said they would add the cost of the modifications to the amount. I suggested as the market value is now $28,000 that they keep the value at $33K.
I'm happy, they seem to be as well - yes the cost goes up but a lot of useless well known companies won't cover those of us who choose to live north of Rockhampton.
