Well Pete, Grace and I have made it all the way to Blackall. :)
We are staying in the Camp ground along with about 50 other vans, what a great spot, water taps scattered throughout the camp and toilet at the entrance with the dump point. For $8 per night its a great facility offered by this wonderful little town. We are looking forward to spending the next 3 nights here enjoying the sunshine and having a swim in the thermal pools.
If anyone is around we are the red truck with the Royal Flair attached at the entrance of the grounds, stop and say hi.
If it starts raining, get out quick! I was bogged there for 3 days last December when the heavens opened up just after I arrived - had to get someone from the auto repair place on the main street a few doors up from the Caltex servo (Tim's Workshop, 72 Shamrock St) to pull me out with his ute - problem was that the ground around the bus had dried out but underneath in the shade it was still sticky mud. I beat a hasty retreat to the high ground next to the entrance. I returned the favour the next day by having them do a couple of small jobs on the bus - nice people, not expensive.
And like Eaglemax, I also loved the eagle sculpture.
Great small town if camping on the there was a hot showers at the toilet block in town near IGA , But go to thermal pool and have a dip and shower there . Also have a look at the Wool soars .
Glad to see the place has changed traveled through there a lot years ago for mine work or runs to Darwin. Found them rude and just wanting your money with no manners. Amazing what a down turn in exploration and gas can to to change the mind of a town.
Looks like Grey is the new Gold.
