We are about a month from leaving for a two year trip to WA and are in the process of downsizing the stuff to lcarry. One item that comes to mind is our high lift jack. We do not intend to get off road very often with dirt roads being the furthest from the seal that we will get. So the question is "do we leave it at home." or take it just in case. I realize that it's a bit of a "out there question" but interested in your comments.
thanks in advance
Brian (briche)

I know they are the gear to have onboard, just in case. But we take our camper off road and really we are never that "OFF ROAD" with it to warrant taking one even if I owned one.
Just returned from a 3 month trip East to west Au, and even though lots of Free Camping and not much off roading, never required a jack. I'd say "leave it", unless you intend to do lots of off road driving in isolated areas.

Had one for my first 15 years in WA and did not use it.
Have been doing the same 4WD journeys for the last 15 years and have not had a need for a high lift jack.
So; as the other replies have suggested, its a boat anchor(a bit light) or my suggestion is a "Garage Sale"
Regards.
Hetho.
A small boat maybe
I have had a HiLift Jack for I dunno donkeys the only time I used it was on the farm lifted a few posts out of the ground and straightened some bent pipe in the cowshed .
I have been driving around the Vic Highcountry for 40+years , I carried it a few times many years ago and never used it , I decided the extra weight just wasn't worth it and they can be dangerous if used carelessly.
I wouldn't use a high lift jack unless the vehicle had dedicated attachment points. Too dangerous.
I bought a second hand landcruiser screw type jack & made a U shaped adapter, so it can't slip of the caravan chassis.
The caravan had a sizzor type jack. I thought it was too light for the job.
Cheers Pete
