We went to the Lismore Caravan and camping show today hoping to find a cover for our van. We saw one only cover
As we had nothing to compare it with we did not buy it.
We have a 21' Coachman.
What are your recommendations?

Sorry I can not help with which choice of caravan cover to buy.
I am little negative when it comes to covering things up, eg. Our expensive bbq, I clean it, cover it up, don't get used for months on end until a planned event comes along.
Now because I don't cover it, I will often just walk out to bbq area cook breakfast or any other meat that needs doing.
Outside lounges were the same, now uncovered and used.
Covers lives in cupboard, I might just sell them, has not been used for maybe 5 years.
I have resisted buying a cover for the caravan fo the same reason, at a moment notice were away for night or two enjoying the van.
I,m currently looking at a "Stormcover" made in Qld protects from hail rain UV 3 year warrant . Mate has one and swears by it looks good approx $1800 . Google caravan covers Stormcovers and the web site comes up .

Unfortunately where we need to park our van is under big deciduous trees and leaves from the massive Cadagie trees nearby also shed and are covered in sooty mould So a cover is necessary when the van is not in use.
Given your storage conditions it's understandable you want to cover it. IMO you're better to get one designed for your particular van, or at least go for one with a zip door for access when needed. I bought a generic cover and now I don't use it - it is a total PITA to get on and off, plus it has no door. A full height van is also harder to get the cover on/off, many trips up the ladder if you're on your own! Oh, and if you have a fixed solar on the roof and need it to keep the battery up, a clear panel in the cover is also a good idea.

I have my 16ft 9in pop top van which is under a carport covered with a Camec cover which includes a zipped section to access the side door, for the last 12 mths.
The purpose for the cover is to protect the fibreglass finish from the sun's uv, dust, bird droppings and hail damage.
It is quick & easy to cover the van with two people or a bit slower doing it by yourself.
There are many brands to choose from but the key specification you need to consider is: use a composite of three materials comprising a 100% waterproof roof section for maximum protection, weather resistant breathable side panels which allows the cover to breathe and moisture to evaporate resisting rot and mildew and a heavy duty reinforced skirt. Check the cover's internal surface for a non abrasive finish so as not to damage the van surface when it is installed, sitting covered and removed.
At this time, the covered van has been subjected to heat up to mid 30degs, heavy storm event including hail and wind and cold down to 4degs. The van have not experienced any mould to the internal or external surfaces and no adverse conditions including abrasion damage as a result of the cover. While the majority of the van is under the carport, part of the front section of the van is partly in the open. This section has had bird droppings on it and it was easily cleaned off.

If you always park your van in the same place, consider a basic carport with roof panel/s modified to allow sun to get to Solar panel/s. See through patio blinds to close all sides.
It allows easy access, better protection than cloth cover,costs similar to good quality storm cover.

Go with Possum's idea. What ever cover you purchase you will be replacing it every 18 months to three years. Over a period of years you will have spent the sam money and have all the trouble of pulling the cover on and off. All the people in our village that have tried them have given the idea away.

I bought one on eBay for $143 delivered to Townsville - for an 18' poptop. I thought it was good until one afternoon when it was on & I had to check something on the roof. Yuck! The van was much hotter under the cover than without!
I did buy some white spray paint to spray the cover's top but haven't done it yet.

Just bought one off ebay for just over $100 ,my only thing about covers learn how to put them on , we have fought with our last one and it got shredded trying to put it over our van, this new one i put it on my self in about 20min , only because i went and found out the right way of doing it

I looked at some expensive ones like this one and even seriously considered buying one but then my tight arse nature kicked in and I went looking on ebay. Purchased one for $350 and now 4 years later its still being used a bit dirty but still ok.
so I can probably recommend a cheap one at &350-$400 so based on $1800 purchase price you could buy 4 cheaper ones and get at least 8-10 years use rather than 3-4 years maybe 5 out of the expensive one.

I got sick and tired of the cheap covers there absolute garbage compared to the custom made storm cover from Queensland ,there three layered beautifully custom made super strong,really thick materials they have huge strong zippers,they fit to perfection ,one piece just rolls onto the roof ,two sides zip on, an absolute snack to fit,this thing looks like it will last forever.
the heavy duty construction shocked me after putting up with cheap crap over the years..
